Recollective: Vancouver Independent Archives Week is pleased to share the documentation from How to Survive Life and its Disasters, originally recorded on March 5, 2021. Organized by independent curator Allison Collins, this conversation featured artists Lesley-Anne Cao, Donna Miranda, and Lena Cobangbang, whose work founded, enriches, and sustains the operations and archives of Green Papaya Art Projects, the longest running independent art platform in the Philippines.

Following a serious fire in June 2020, Green Papaya was forced from its space in the Kamuning neighborhood of Quezon City and undertook an extensive rescue and preservation effort, supported by Asia Art Archive in Hong Kong and VIVO Media Arts in Vancouver. Collins, Cao, Miranda, and Cobangbang discuss their experience contributing to and caring for the archive and share videotaped documentation of works sent to Vancouver for digitization.
